The SMCJ28CA from Littelfuse is a SMCJ series 1500W, surface mount bidirectional transient voltage suppression diode in DO-214AB package. It features excellent clamping capability, low incremental surge resistance, low profile package, moulded plastic body over glass passivated junction, built-in strain relief and fast response time of typically less than 1.0ps from 0Vs to BV minimum. The peak pulse power dissipation (PPPM) is 1500W at TA=25°C, 10/1000μs waveform, 0.01% repetition rate (duty cycle) and power dissipation is 6.5W on infinite heat sink at TL=50°C. This SMCJ series transient voltage suppression diode is designed specifically to protect sensitive electronic equipment from voltage transients induced by lightning and other transient voltage events. It is ideal for the protection of I/O interfaces, VCC bus and other vulnerable circuits.

  • Breakdown voltage (VBR) of 31.1V minimum, 34.4V maximum at 1mA test current (IT)

  • Typical failure mode is short from over specified voltage or current
  • UL E230531 approved, plastic package is flammability rated V-0 per UL standard
